Stamp duty is a tax levied by the Karnataka state government on property transactions. It is calculated as a percentage of the property value (whichever is higher — guidance value or agreement value) and must be paid before the sale deed is registered at the Sub-Registrar's office.
Stamp duty can be paid online via the Kaveri Online Services portal (kaverionline.karnataka.gov.in) using net banking or UPI. You can also pay at authorised banks or franking machines. After payment, registration happens at the Sub-Registrar's office with a prior appointment.
Stamp duty in Bangalore is 5% for properties above ₹45 lakhs, 3% for properties between ₹21-45 lakhs, and 2% for properties below ₹20 lakhs. Women buyers get a 1% concession.
